Hi, I hope I'm doing this right! This is the first time I've been on here and the first diet I have tried as my weight is now getting me down. I feel I have an intolerance to a lot of high carb foods so thought atkins would be able to help.
My friend lost a lot on this diet (but then gave up) and she looked great.
Thanks for reading, Leanne x
Welcome!
Do you have a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002)?
Welcome to Atkins Leanne! Maybe once you've lost a few pounds your friend will see your success and will start back again. :-)
Congratulations and Welcome!
I concurr, reading the book and/or doing the lessons on this site are essential. You need to understand the science behind it to do well.
BE PREPARED. Take the time to PLAN your meals for the week in advance, cooking on Sunday for lunches and snacks..ect.
Use an online food journal like www.fatsecret.com or www.fitday.com. WEIGH your foods, don't use "cups".
Get 20 NET carbs a day, 12-15 of them from veggies.
HAVE FUN!!!
This nutritional plan is yummy and fun. After a while, you won't even miss the things that you are not eating, because you have so many options available to you.
It won't be long and you'll be up, WAY UP, floating on a cloud about how great you look and feel..You just wait and see!
Yeah I got the book today. I hope I can do this! I don't eat meals at the moment, just binges of food so this will be a total life change! but at 21 I think its a good time.
Agreed, it will only get harder as you get older.
Definitely DON'T think about this as a diet. This is a nutritional program that you will be able to use the rest of your life to maintain you at your ideal weight and HEALTH.
Part of the reason that we binge is that when we eat sugar (carbs), our bodies start telling us ..more more more.
Once you break the cycle, cravings are few and far between. You will feel full all the time. You should NEVER feel hungry, as the fat that you are eating will be sending "I'm full" signals.
Absolutely measure today as well as weigh. A lot of people loose MORE inches than pounds. Also, sometimes it seems like we are stalled, but we are still loosing inches.
Oh dear! This is my first time, too! I've tried every diet, diet food, and have spent a fortune on a "new me" only to increase in size! I really hope this works--but it seems like a lot of food--and I'm so afraid of making a mistake!
Welcome aboard Newbie.
