Just pork sausages and nothing else? No, you need nutrients that are found in vegetables. I suggest you read the top 2 posts on the forum, the "consolidated quick hits", including links - that will give you a lot of pointers and hints on pitfalls to avoid.

Welcome!

Welcome!!! You have come to the best place. This forum is awesome and everyone on here is so helpful and motivating. You are going to love it here.

The best thing you can do when first starting out is READ READ READ as much as you can about the program, plan out what you are going to eat and have food prepared at all times.

Have you read the 2002 edition of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution? Have you read about the program up on top? Taken the online courses? Read all the Quick Hit posts at the top of the forum?

Print out your Accepted Foods List and keep it handy. Only eat from this list for the first 2 weeks.
http://www.atkins.com/Program/FourPhases/WhatIsInduction/AcceptableFoodsList.aspx

You NEED to eat at least 20 net carbs a day (total carbs-fiber=net carbs) with 12-15 net carbs from veggies alone. Aim for 25g fiber or more a day. When you have higher fiber veggies, it will help fill you up too. Drink 64 oz or more of pure water a day. Try for half your body weight in oz.

You are limited to 4oz of cheese a day. 3 oz of cream a day. You need the good fats (butter, olive oil, mayo, avocados) to lose stored fat.

The first week of Atkins is the hardest, as your body goes through carb withdrawl and you may experience "The Atkins Flu". Symptoms are usually fatigue, light headedness, headaches (especially if cutting out/down on caffeine at the same time), leg cramps, naseau. If you have any of these, really check to make sure you are eating enough, getting in all your veggies and drinking all your water. Drinking full sodium broth/bouillion a couple times in the day will help as well, as it helps replace the lost electrolytes in your body. (It really helps!) After the first week or so you should be getting a surge of energy from then on out! It's a wonderful thing!

Take before pictures now, if you can. Make sure to take your measurements, too. There will be many times that the scale does not move but you will still lose inches.
