I know it seems like a strange question, but I can't seem to find just "heavy cream" only "heavy whipping cream". I have looked at Wal-mart & Kroger with no success. So, is there enough of a difference to worry over?
There are companys that call their heavy cream heavy whipping cream. That seems to be okay. But I have found that when I buy something that just says whipping cream.. It does not taste the same. It also has some other ingredients in it.
You will have to try for yourself. The carb count should be the same.
Walmarts brand is heavy whipping cream and that is fine. I think it tastes great.
The fat content in heavy whipping cream will be at least 36%... heavy cream would be less... other than that, I don't think there is a diff...
Thanks, that helps!
You just have to try it. I know that at Giant I think, I bought their whipping cream instead of heavy cream and it was not the same...
but I like the walmart brand and it is much cheaper!! By like 2.00 a quart.
I have been buying mine at Walmart, too. I just tried some pumpkin pie spice in my pot of coffee, mmmmmmmm..... with the heavy cream, I didn't even need sweetener...
It is amazing what wonderful things you can have on Atkins isn't it? Who the heck needs the junk?!
I will have to look at the brands when I hit the store tonight..
Let me know, Baylor, I am going to the store tomorrow ;-)
In Canada Half & Half is 10% MF, heavy cream (also known as table cream) is 18% MF and Whipping Cream is 33% MF (MF= FAT).
It makes quite a difference in your coffee depending on which one you use.
