I have been thinking about this myself as I think that provided I do not adopt the high carbohydrate diet that I used to eat and continue eating low carbohydrate for the rest of my life, I will have consistently normal blood glucose levels and no complications from the type 2 diabetes I have been diagnosed with. Does this mean I am cured...I say yes. There is also the possiblility that once I am down to my goal weight and if I were to eat a high glycemic food that my body would not spike as much as it did when I weighed 80 lbs more.

Nice to see you! Good pondering.. I don 't know if getting rid of the symptoms is the same as getting rid of the disease... That is something to think about.

I have not read the article, but my thought is once diagnosed diabetic always diabetic. You can control it to the point of appearing to not have it. But if you go back to your old pattern of eating and regain the weight it comes back. I will read your article.

weight loss is good still..down 50lbs. I wonder though that once down to my goal weight would my body react the same as it did at 270 lbs if I did happen to eat an orange or a potato. I like the comparison in that article about the 50 year old man. If he did not get diagnosed with diabetes and then ate low carb..no one would say he was a diabetic if he continued to eat low carb..
I don't know.. since type 2 is often diet and weight related...

I believe your body may act differently but only you will know for sure when you get there. Eating those in proper portions with some protein and fat to slow digestion and you may just be fine.
I am not planning to do that..just pondering what differences there will be when I am there. I just enjoy eating this way now that I can't think of eating differently. If I do think of maybe having a piece of pie or something not ANA, I just immediately think of how I felt when I had the high blood glucose and that is more than enough to deter me from eating it.
An orange or potato can be a part of the ANA depending on the individuals carb tolerance.
or a half an orange or half a potato. Once we get to lifetime maintenance, I'm sure you'd know your limits and proper portion sizes. Unlike before, when we all though a box of Kraft Mac n Cheese was perfectly OK for lunch. ;-)
