You've come a log way in that year, Baylor. And your experience with ANA has been shared so we might all benefit. And we really really appreciate it. You bring a calm, level-headed approach to doing ANA that we all can learn from.

I'd guess, based on your inability to allow newbies to slip and slid on the official rules of the Atkins Program ...... when you ground your kids for a week ... they stay grounded for the whole week. LOL

Congratulations.

Happy, Happy, Happy Anniversary!!! We joined about the same time I think! LOL. I wish I would have never left, but I thought there was too much "boldness" to say it nicely. Not that I don't like bold or truth, I do, it's my middle name, but there are ways to say things, especially when you are speaking thru writing. Ppl percieve and take things wrong too easily. But oh well, that's mostly over now, so I'm glad to be back and able to share your anny with you!

<hip, hip, horay!!!>

Ooh, I've got a question for you, Baylor!

How'd you do on your first Thanksgiving in the program???

I was all set to keep on my low-carb plan on that most infamous of pig-out days, and my hubby says that he's going to eat whatever he wants (he's on low-carb, too).

I'm afraid I'll cave! We're going out to eat for Thanksgiving (buffet, no less), so there will be LOTS of temptation, haha!

Anyone else have any advice???

Thanks!

Suzy :)

My first Thanksgiving I made all the foods I normally do but I made 5 bags of mashed cauliflower, and mashed brussels sprouts. I made an Atkins cheesecake and sf orange carrot jello.( I know ir sounds weird but it is good!!)

I gave my self permission to eat 1 scoop of mashed potatoes. I knew if I kept thinking I could not have them I would want them all the more! So I put 1 scoop on my plate. I tasted it. Not even a teaspoon. But as I sat there with it there, I kept thinking, It is only food. It is not that I can not have it, it is that I CHOOSE not to.

I ate all my favorites, and so did everyone else. It was not a chore or anything. I just wanted the weight loss and control more than the potatoes.

The potatoes will always be there. I knew I could have them again someday but why wreck my groove. I did not count that day, I just enjoyed the things I knew that were on plan for me. I really did not feel deprived. I knew where I was going.

I don't feel tempted. There are either things I can have now, Later, Or once in a great while.. but they all have a place. I will not be deprived.

If you are going somewhere, Make a plan and plan well. Bring your own cream, splenda, dessert, side dish. Plan to succeed.

The longer you are on plan the easier it will be to guide yourself and stay on track.

You guys are amazing. I am really happy to be here with you all.
