Induction is the first phase of the Atkins Diet, which culminates in a lifetime way of eating. Here you learn a new way of eating that kick-starts weight loss so you can slim down—and stay slim. Once you've completed the three lessons in this course, you'll know everything that you need to begin your journey to a trimmer body, better health and enhanced energy.
To get off on the right foot, you need to understand the objectives of Induction and how to achieve them, including the correct amount—and types—of carbohydrate foods to eat, as well as the guidelines on protein and fat consumption. You may even find that you can start in a later phase.
The first two weeks in Phase 1 are crucial to your long-term success. In this lesson, you'll learn the dos and don'ts that will smooth your transition to a new, more healthful way of eating. You'll also find out just what to expect in this initial period, complete with trouble-shooting tips.
By the end of your second week on Induction, it's time to evaluate your progress to date and decide whether to spend some more time in this phase or move to a later one. You'll find out how to make that decision as well as how to make any necessary course corrections.

Without this resource, I would not have found out about the new information about additional salt requirements when starting Atkins. (My Atkins books are quite old)
I am craving water and suffering from a very, very dry mouth, which could be a result of electrolyte loss. I'm going to try to add a little salt to my food and see how this goes. (Don't normally add salt, but it might curb any cravings I might have for chips!)
Meanwhile, I have been in the Induction Phase for two weeks. (One blow-out with Pfeffernussen, but straight back on the horse!) I have lost four kilos, which is 8.8 pounds. Only 26 - 30kg to go!
I was on Atkins about 10 years ago and lost 20 pounds and felt great. However, I did not stay with it and gained the lost weight and more. In May I started the program again. This time it took six weeks on Induction before I saw any real results.
I have now lost 25 pounds. I have reduced my shirt size from XL to a medium and my waist from 40 to 33. Reduced my Triglycerides from 187 to 102 and increased my HDL from 32 to 45. Whenever I stray from the program, I just go back on Induction to get back on track. Just one more point. During this time my wife and I went on a cruise. I stayed on the program, ate like there was no tomorrow and lost weight. Happy losing.
I am starting tommorrow to the T and was wondering if anyone had any meal plans?
I fell off, picked myself up and am back on program. Atkins is the best, I didn't think Atkins weight loss program could get any better but I sure like the revised addition.

HI all.. i am a tried and true Atkins follower. I start, or should i say second time around at the beginning of this year 2009. I set my mind to make a real difference in my life. and I have.. I have lost a total of 63 lbs. and I do feel amazing, better than i have in many years. I stopped loosing these past three months or so. Soooo I figured I must have gotten a little sloppy as of late.. time to get serious and redouble my efforts to attain my goal, which i will do. So I am going to change things up a bit, tighten my belt and get to it. Good luck to you all, and Thank you Dr.Atkins, you are saving my life.
